Yesterday, we closed the chapter of this past year.
Now, it is time to turn our attention to the future. Today, we are going to Wonderland. Imagine yourself as the director of the film you are creating in the coming year. What do you want to see happen to the character of your film next year? What would make them really happy?
To begin with, please make sure you can be undisturbed for the next 30 minutes and take a comfortable seat. Please be friendly with yourself today. Wonderland can be a vulnerable place to go to.
Dream Away
How satisfied are you, overall, with what currently is? Take a look at page 4 of your workbook and draw your personal spider web. A 10 is a very high satisfaction, a 1 is a very low satisfaction. In which area would you love to see a shift next year? Please choose one area to work on. When you are ready, give yourself permission to dream about Wonderland with the help of the audio file:
You have two options to bring today’s exercise to a close. Choose the one that resonates with you more (or make up your own!):
Be an imperfect artist. You could make a drawing, write a poem or a short story, take a picture or compose a song. If your creative output makes no sense to you - great! And if it's done really badly - fantastic! The only thing that matters today is to capture the atmosphere of your Wonderland and portray it in a way so that you can revisit it next year.
Make a long-list. You could make a long-list of Wonderland possibilities (page 5). I recommend to add absolutely everything that comes from your heart and beyond - especially the things that appear to be outrageous and unrealistic. Rest assured that your rational brain will still be working perfectly even after you have listed all the longings of your heart.
Help From Your Buddy
I usually ask my buddy for help with the dreaming, and I give them the instruction to take a radical perspective of possibility. What if I give myself full permission to dream? What if it is possible? Never mind a bit of magic, Wonderland is just for today.
