Day 4: Make A Choice

What will be your focus next year?

Today is a day of discernment. You are invited to make a concrete choice for your next year.

Undoubtedly, there are many things that you cannot influence. You do not live in Wonderland, after all... However, what you focus your attention on is in your hands (or rather: in your mind). So, what is the most important thing that you want to write into the script of the film that will turn out to be your next year?

What Really Matters?

Revisit your Wonderland and feel the atmosphere it creates in your body. Imagine that you will look back next year and say: "I'm so glad I had the courage to focus my energy on …". What would really (I mean: really, truly) matter to you? I invite you to listen to your head, to your heart and to your gut instinct - and then open your workbook on page 6. Choose one focus area that will be of highest relevance to you. Describe in as much detail as you can how your life is going to be when you are fully focused on what really matters. If you are not sure what your focus could be, make a list and then read it out loud while putting your attention on your body. You know you are on track when your body lights up.

Ready to Commit?

Are you ready to commit? Go to page 7 and sign a contract with yourself. The point of the contract is really check in with yourself: Do I truly want what I have chosen? If there is a resounding "yes" to this question, you should sign the contract. If not, stay with the question for a while. What would you have to choose to turn this into a contract you would love to sign right away?

But What If I Have More Than One Focus?

There is only one bullseye on the dartboard. The meaning of focus is that it draws a boundary and deliberately excludes what is not in it. My experience is that everything else falls into place when you really know what your focus is. This will help you make important decisions in your everyday life because you will know when to say “no” and when to say “yes”. Knowing your focus sets your energy free for what really matters. My recommendation is that you stay with one focus and you try it for a month. If you find it necessary, change your focus. But keep it singular.

Tomorrow, we are going to get organized to make real stuff happen in your life!
